He’s just not that into you if he won’t let you choose curtains... then again you are just not lovin him either if he rips the gorgeous Cole & Son wallpaper off the walls and replaces it with paint finishes!
This is the cold hard fact of any relationship that requires co-habiting! My theory is this, when it comes to moving in together, consider, ignoring star signs... read the same books? not relevant... hobbies? really not an issue.. but decor and design, now here is an interesting potential design dilemma!
You really have to think very carefully before you move in with your significant other, as to his or her design choices you may have to live with!
I have really good friends, who have been with each other for ever and a day.. They were married when they were young. OK, then they did get divorced, briefly; however they found each other again, and have one of the best relationships I have ever see. They have the same taste in decor, and fashion. At times they even match, as odd as this may be; I think they have found the secret to eternal happiness! Their style is modern, contemporary, and their flat is absolutely fabulously flawless, making use of space as only Europeans know how to!
So the next time you happen to swop space with a potential life partner... I suggest this line of questioning, or the proverbial “getting to know each other better”. Do you like... Shabby Chic, Beach Cottage, 70s Retro, Neo Classical, Tuscan, Asian Cool, Eclectic, or 60s Kitsch... etc You can then decide if you should stay for another drink, or turn and run like hell!
This should hopefully get you in the right direction of finding eternal design, and decor bliss... and hopefully a bit of happily ever after, because after all, a couple that styles together stays together! |
