As the world becomes more connected via our iphones and blackberries our thirst for instant information gratification has become prevalent within our society..
When an afternoon spent at a gorgeous country restaurant is disturbed by the constant sound of incoming emails and ringing phones, we have to sit back and wonder if we have lost our ability to quite simple just enjoy the obvious pleasures in our life that make us feel more human... and less like a giant beacon for which all the radio waves floating around our African skies use as a base in order to deliver information.
The need to feel more human has become more and more urgent!
There is a sub conscious backlash within the community which is craving fresh produce, products that have been made locally manufactured with love and attention. Products that have a story, and have not been mass produced by countries with no value on human life or human rights other than to create cheap mass produced items!
This ideology and way of life has been recognised at the recent events at the Design Indaba in Cape Town.
Here it was evident that the rebirth of an African Arts and Crafts movement is on the rise! The exciting designers and artists that were at the exhibition show cased their work with aplomb and absolute fabulousness.. !
It’s all about Love, Hope, Peace!
May feel a bit like a cliché, but I think it touches the heart of what we crave within our homes, and our lives! So sit back relax and take a walk through the best of the best from the Design Indaba exhibition and celebrate with us all the outstanding talent to offer coming from our very own African soil.
