Shakama to replenish your soul, and revive your mind... Here are our top 5 reasons to book your next getaway at Shakama:
You want to unwind, its been a long year, and you deserve it!
You are overdue a fabulous romantic weekend
You need to
get back to nature and rediscover this wonderful country we live in...
Their business centre and conference facilities are sure to get your all important creative brainstorm happening...
Simply because you can!
The Decor 5 * Contemporary African Urban chic with a dash of home styling... Comfortable enough to relax on the couches and glamorous enough to feel spoilt!
The accommodation... Consists of ten fully serviced luxury thatched suites. There are a few rooms with outdoor showers, so I would suggest you book one of these! All suites are extremely private and have decks for viewing the local wild life as they mosey on up to the watering-hole for their daily sundowners!
There is also a self-catering camp consisting of two en-suite "split level" cottages, communal kitchen and lapa. This camp is aptly named "Eagles Nest" as the views from the top of the camp are absolutely breath taking! Great if you have teenage kids thatwant their own space.
The food... A mixture of 5 * cuisine and home style cooking, I would not suggest going there with the intention of keeping to your diet. There is however state of the art gym, where you can go and burn off any of those extra calories from sheer over "YUM" indulgence.
What to do there... A full bar, lounge and dining area opening up onto a viewing deck are the focal point of social activities. At night, you can enjoy pre-dinner drinks and snacks around an open fire in a boma with a view.
I would suggest you book a shoulder, back and head massage from one of their beauty therapists, guaranteed relaxation. Walk from your massage out onto the deck and spend a few lazy hours in the jacuzzis while sipping cocktails and wonder what the folk are doing in colder countries... Book a Game Drive with Stephen who will delight in his stories from his childhood in rural Africa.
Anyone for a round of golf? Bela-Bela and surrounding area is becoming the bushveld golfing Mecca in South Africa with two world class golf courses already opened and 3 more underway.
Shakama is in close proximity of Elements Golf Reserve and Zebula Country Club.
Wildlife... 5000 hectare of the Waterberg Estate Reserve offers abundant game and bird viewing opportunity. A variety of
Rhino, hippo and over 20 other indigenous game species roam the estate.
The Journey...
Situated 2 hours away from jhb by car, this destination is close enough to leave after work on Friday and far enough to enjoy the unspoiled views and absolute tranquility in one of South Africa ’s finest bushveld districts!
Just one point though, the last 20 min is fairly rough roads, so leave the super car at home, and take the 4x4.
